Green procurement is an important and responsible choice for Binghamton University. By prioritizing products and services that are sustainable, eco-friendly, and ethically sourced, we not only reduce our environmental footprint but also support innovation and practices that benefit society as a whole. Sustainable purchasing demonstrates Binghamton University’s leadership in sustainability while also enhancing the overall well-being of students, staff, and faculty.

Executive Order 22

New York State Executive Order 22, signed by Governor Kathy Hochul on June 1, 2022, focuses on promoting sustainability and combating climate change through Green Procurement practices across state agencies. The order updates and builds upon previous policies to ensure that New York State agencies continue to lead in environmental stewardship and sustainable operations.

Goals include:

  • Conserving, improving and protecting natural resources
  • Preventing pollution, recycling, developing and utilizing clean energy sources
  • Minimizing negative environmental and health impacts of our operations

SUNY Single Use Plastics Policy

This policy calls for the elimination of single use plastics and preference for durable and reusable alternatives.

NYS OGS Green Contracts

There are two OGS "all green contracts". One for environmentally preferable cleaning supplies Award: PGB-23245-GR, and one for recycled copy paper Award: 23078-GR-RS
