Student Permits

Parking Permits

Students can purchase parking permits online. You will need your PODS ID and password to login. A vehicle must be registered with the University before parking on campus or it must be parked in a paid space. To register your vehicle and purchase a permit, log into your account and follow the instructions.

TAPS utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR) that eliminates the need for parking decals. LPR is a plate-recognition technology that virtually associates Binghamton University parking permits to a license plate without a decal or hangtag. Once a virtual permit is purchased online a confirmation will be emailed and the permit is active.

Vehicle information can be updated from an online account at any time. Multiple vehicles can be added to a virtual permit from an online account, but only one vehicle associated with a virtual permit may be on campus at a time.

Proximity card permits (garage and paid lot) for students must be purchased in the Parking Services office located in the basement of the Administration building.

This permit type will show up as an option for residents to select online if they decide to do so. Resident students who do not select this permit option will pay the existing annual permit fee of $140.55. In order to maintain correct usage of this permit type, parking enforcement will ensure that all vehicles with a Discounted Resident Parking Permit are parked in lot G1. Permit Display

TAPS has integrated a new parking software that utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR). LPR, is a plate-recognition technology that associates parking permits to a license plate and not a sticker decal or hangtag.

License plates must be visible from the drive lane for LPR to work properly. If you are from a state that does not require a front license plate, for example Pennsylvania, vehicles must be pulled into a space nose first. A one time warning will be issued for this offense.

Special Note for Veteran Students

Students who are veterans, and who show us a copy of their DD214, can purchase a full-year and semester permit by paying the $25 registration fee. If your permit choices show any amount other than $0 in the permit fee column, you will need to show us a copy of your DD214. Once this is complete, you will be able to purchase your permit online at the reduced rate for the remainder of your time at Binghamton University without showing any further paperwork.

Special Note for GSEU Members

GSEU members whose paperwork has been processed by their department, can buy permits online at the discounted price.

GSEU Permit Options
