Purchase a parking permit

Faculty and staff can purchase parking permits online. You will need your BU login id and password to login. A vehicle must be registered with the University before parking on campus or it must be parked in a paid space. To register your vehicle and purchase a permit, log into your account and follow the instructions.

Faculty and staff represented by a union, permit options
Employees represented by UUP, CSEA, Council 82, NYSCOPBA and PEF, can receive a free virtual permit, but must pay a $25 registration fee each time they receive a permit.

Research Foundation, Management Confidential, Sodexo, Preschool and Bookstore employee permit options 
Members of these groups purchase an annual permit. The permit price is pro-rated and will decrease by about $10 per month beginning Oct. 1 at $150. The permit can be returned for a partial refund at any time.

Garage and paid lot permit

In addition, any group can choose to purchase a garage and paid lot permit that allows unlimited parking in the Parking Garage and the Visitor’s Paid Lot as well as parking in other campus lots for one vehicle. The $25 registration fee for union represented employees is inlcuded in the prices below. 

Update to garage and paid lot permit access
If you have a current garage and paid lot permit, your ID will now allow access. Beginning Aug. 15 2023, a valid University ID will be the ONLY means to access those areas for permit holders. IDs must be easily accessible in order to prevent delays and allow access and egress. Faculty and staff that need a replacement ID card should visit Human Resources.

Employees have the option to participate in payroll deduct for their annual garage and paid lot permit. Applications are below if you currently do not participate and are interested.

Permit return policy

Visitor pass, day and month permit sales are final.

Semester and annual permits can be returned within seven calendar days for a full refund. Returns must be made during regular business hours. The day of purchase is day one, so a permit bought on April 1st must be returned in the Parking Office by the end of business on April 7th. After that period, there are no refunds except as noted below:

  • Employees who purchased the full-price prorated permit can return it for a prorated refund of the parking-fee portion of the price until May.
  • Non-employees (students, non-affiliates) who leave the University permanently or for study abroad may, if requested by January 31, be able to exchange an annual permit for a Fall semester permit and receive the difference in price as a refund.
