Graduation Checklist

  • File your Application for Degree

The Application for Degree is a required form that notifies the University of a student's intent to fulfill his/her degree requirements at the end of the current semester. This form must be filled out if you would like to receive your diploma. THIS INFORMATION ONLY PERTAINS TO SPRING 2021.

    Undergraduate Application for Degree (AFD):
The undergraduate AFD will be made available at the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester via BU BRAIN, under the student tab.

If you have not declared your candidacy, go to to complete this. If you have any questions, e-mail

    Graduate Application for Degree (GAFD):
Graduate candidates will be notified when the GAFD is made available for Spring 2021 graduates.

  • Submit your Intent to Participate Form

The Intent to Participate Form is your RSVP to participate in the Commencement ceremony. By filling out this form you are telling us you will be at the ceremony. This form will be made available on your dashboard at the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester. The Intent to Participate Form is different than the Application for Degree you submit through BU Brain.

  • Order your Cap and Gown

All students must wear a cap and gown approved by the University Bookstore to participate in Commencement. Cap and Gown sales will be made available in Fall 2020.
