  • Today's Campus Appreciation Picnic UPDATE

    The Campus Appreciation Picnic is still on today! However, due to predicted afternoon storms, the picnic will now be starting early from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Peace Quad. A “Tex-Mex taqueria” themed lunch will be provided by Bearcat Dining. We look forward to seeing you there!

    Supervisors are asked to adjust employee schedules so that all clerical and support staff may attend the picnic for at least one hour.

  • MarketPlace closed today

  • Changes to international student and scholar regulations — upcoming ISSS webinars

    A major change to the regulations for F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars is scheduled to take effect on Sept. 15, 2026. The Office of International Student and Scholar Services is offering upcoming information sessions to share updates with the Binghamton University community about the impact of these changes. Faculty and staff are invited to attend a webinar titled "Faculty/Staff Info Session: New DHS Duration of Status Rule" at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.

  • Brittany Dunst honored with STAR Award

    Brittany Dunst, parking operations manager in Transportation and Parking Services, received the STAR Award this week. The award recognizes outstanding service by faculty and staff members within the Binghamton University community.

    More than half a dozen colleagues, including Jason Andrews, Brendan Barnett, Nick Corcoran, Dave Hubeny, Ryan Roosa, Christen Szymanski, and Andrew Walkling, nominated Dunst for the honor. They wrote that Dunst is exceptionally positive, professional, and collaborative. Hubeny noted that Dunst has a “lead-by-example” philosophy and said she embodies everything this award represents: service, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to the campus.

    “Leading Parking Services is a notoriously difficult position, yet Brittany approaches her role with immense grace and humility,” he wrote. “She is a strong, compassionate leader who refuses to manage from behind a desk. During major campus milestones like Spring Fling and Commencement, Brittany is on the front lines. She works long hours right alongside her staff, directing traffic, managing logistics, and enduring the elements to ensure our campus events run flawlessly.”

  • Supervisors asked to allow remote work for appropriate staff on move-in day

    Binghamton University anticipates a high volume of traffic on the main campus on Friday, Aug. 14, the primary move-in day. The administration requests that supervisors accommodate any employees who work on the main campus and whose job duties allow them to work remotely that day.

    Employees who are needed as part of the move-in process and who are in support services that parents and students may need to rely upon are expected to report to campus as usual.

  • Submit specialized software requests for the public computing facilities by Aug. 14

    Information Technology Services asks faculty to submit any specialized software requests for the spring semester public computing facilities by Aug. 14, 2026. As individuals do not have the permissions to download and install software on public computers, submitting a request allows faculty to influence the selection of software available to students.

    Fill out the "Computer Lab Software" request form at the link below to request installation. Requesting software early helps to ensure it is available for students when they need it.

  • Visions Federal Credit Union to bring ice cream truck to campus for employee appreciation events

    Visions Federal Credit Union will host its annual appreciation event by treating Binghamton University employees to complimentary ice cream from Here's the Twist Ice Cream Truck, which will make stops at each of Binghamton University's four campuses.

    On Friday, Aug. 7, the truck will visit the Innovative Technologies Complex (ITC) from noon to 1 p.m. in Lot J and Vestal campus from 1:30-3 p.m. in Lot A1.

    On Monday, Aug. 17, the truck will stop at the Health Sciences Campus from 1-2 p.m. in the Decker School of Nursing lot and the Downtown Center from 3-4 p.m. in the UDC lot.

    All Binghamton University faculty, staff, and affiliates are welcome and encouraged to stop by for a sweet treat and an opportunity to meet members of Visions management team and branch staff.

  • Purchase your parking permit online

    Parking permits are available for purchase online for the upcoming academic year at the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) portal at the link below. To log in, you will need your Binghamton University ID and Two Factor Authentication (2FA).

    First time permit buyer? You must first register your vehicle online with the University. If you are a returning customer, log in, follow the step-by-step instructions, and confirm that your vehicle and contact information are up to date.

    Garage and paid lot permits are available for purchase at the Parking Services office, located on the ground level of the Couper Administration Building. If you are signed up for a garage and paid lot permit with payroll deduct, no action is required.

    TAPS utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR), a plate-recognition technology that virtually associates Binghamton University parking permits to a license plate. Vehicle information can be updated from your online account at any time. See the campus map for parking lot locations. Parking Services will closely monitor lot availability and will update the TAPS website with which parking lots have available space during peak times on campus.

    TAPS updates for the upcoming year can be found on the TAPS website. Questions regarding parking can be directed to parking@binghamton.edu.

  • Fine Arts/Anderson Center building management system upgrades: Aug. 3-6

    Upgrades to the Fine Arts and Anderson Center building management system controllers will take place between 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday to Thursday, Aug. 3-6. Air handlers will experience 30-minute interruptions while each panel is upgraded. Building temperatures may rise by a degree or two.

  • Library North (Fine Arts Collection) summer improvements

    Starting Monday, July 20, new carpeting is being installed on the main floor of Bartle Library North in the area that includes the Fine Arts Collection. Call numbers M-MT have been moved permanently to the fourth floor of Bartle Library to ease accessibility to those items. The remainder of the collection will be discoverable online and can be paged if requested, but will not be open for browsing until the carpeting is complete. Additionally, elevated noise may be heard on the second floor Bartle Library North reading room.

    Library North is expected to open with regular browsing available by Monday, Sept. 14. Staff is available at the main Access Services desk in the Bartle Library lobby to help locate any materials you may need during this time.

  • Crane at Clearview Hall Friday

    A crane will be on site from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Clearview Hall, to set a new air handling unit as part of the ongoing Clearview HVAC replacement project. The access drive between Lot M4 and Clearview Hall will be closed during this time.

  • Electrical shutdowns affecting several buildings: Aug. 8

    The following buildings will experience a brief power outage at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, for switching. The total duration of the outage will be less than five minutes.

  • Lot J3 EV charger upgrades begin July 29

    Electric vehicle charger upgrades will begin Wednesday, July 29, in Lot J3, near the Smart Energy Building in the ITC Complex, and are expected to take approximately three weeks to complete. EV charging will not be available and there will be minor parking disruptions in Lot J3 while work is underway.

Launching on Aug. 1, 2026 this confidential, third-party service allows students, faculty, and staff to report fraud, waste, abuse, misappropriation of assets, and operational irregularities.

    Administered by an independent vendor, EthicsSuite ensures complete anonymity for anyone filing a report. This initiative helps us fulfill mandatory compliance requirements set by New York State and the State University of New York to maintain institutional integrity.

    Each year almost 3,000 new Binghamton students go through a rite of passage, and that is creating the Binghamton “B”!

    Volunteers are needed to help organize the photo from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, on the practice field at the entrance to the University. Volunteers can be faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the university, who will help direct students, hand out t-shirts, and help make the "B" better than ever.

  • Request a voter engagement class presentation from the CCE

    Help students make their voices heard! The Center for Community Engagement is available to come to your class and help students register to vote, learn about the absentee/mail or in-person voting process, and answer questions about student voting rights and responsibilities. The CCE coordinates a nationally recognized, nonpartisan student voting program that has led to steady increases in student voter turnout.

    A standard class presentation takes around 15-20 minutes. The CCE also offers shorter presentation options to better meet the needs of faculty and students.

    The voter registration deadline in New York is Saturday, Oct. 24. Submit requests early to help the CCE accommodate as many classes as possible. You can submit your presentation request at the link below until Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026.

  • SUNY Research Leadership Academy

    SUNY is accepting applications for the next cohort of the SUNY Research Leadership Academy. During the year-long program, Stony Brook University’s Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science will lead participants in developing skills in research leadership, collaboration, and public communication. Applicants should be full-time, active STEM or STEM-adjacent faculty members at the rank of associate professor or higher (or equivalent).

  • Seeking breast milk donors for paid study

    Researchers at Binghamton University School of Pharmacy are looking for healthy, milk-producing women to donate their excess breast milk (5-20 ounces) for use in research.

    The overall purpose of the research is to help develop an assay to help predict medication secretion into breast milk during lactation. You must be 18 years or older to participate. You will be compensated with a $30 gift card for your time.

  • Save the date — Conference on Complex Systems 2026 (CCS 2026) held on campus in October

    The 2026 Conference on Complex Systems (CCS 2026), the largest and most prestigious international conference in the field of complex systems, will be held on Binghamton University's campus on Oct. 9-16, 2026. The deadline for abstract submissions is Friday, May 1, with the early-bird registration deadline Thursday, Aug. 20.

  • Participants wanted — listening study with non-invasive brain stimulation

    The Lim Lab in the Department of Psychology is seeking volunteers for a research study examining how the brain supports speech communication and learning. Participants will listen to speech and other sounds while receiving non-invasive brain stimulation, called transcranial electrical stimulation (tES).

    This study will take place in Science 4, and participants will be compensated at $15/hour.

    You may be eligible if you:
    - Are 18–40 years old with normal hearing and language abilities
    - Are safe to receive non-invasive brain stimulation (no metal or electronic implants)
    - Have no history of neurological, psychiatric, or language disorders, seizures, epilepsy, severe brain injury, or brain surgery
    - Are not currently taking medications or substances that affect nervous system function
    - Have no significant scalp skin conditions

  • Research study recruiting adults with sickle cell disease in the Southern Tier

    Are you or someone you know living with sickle cell disease in the Southern Tier of New York?

    Danielle Ongondo and Kimberly Harry are conducting a research study to understand how the flexibility of healthcare systems and social structures in meeting population needs can improve health outcomes among people with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in the Southern Tier.

    Participants must be:
    - 18 years or older
    - Have a confirmed diagnosis of sickle cell disease (not sickle cell trait)
    - Currently live in the Southern Tier region and received healthcare in New York state within the last 12 months (at an outpatient clinic or a community-based organization)

    Participants will be asked to:
    - Complete a research survey
    - Optional participation in a focus group to share experiences and insights

  • Participants needed for a speech perception study ($15/hour)

    The Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Lab is seeking native English-speaking adults (ages 18–35) to participate in a research study on speech perception. Participants will listen to speech sounds and complete simple computer-based tasks.

    You may be eligible if you:
    - Are 18–35 years old and a native English speaker
    - Have normal hearing
    - Do not have a history of speech, language, or neurological disorders

    This study will take place in Science 4. Participants will be compensated at $15/hour.

  • Survey about patient recovery needs

    Students from Binghamton University are conducting research to recognize what designs could be used to support patient recovery and improve interprofessionalism, such as care collaboration and patient engagement, to develop more patient-centered digital health tools. The research team is seeking to survey the general population to gain insights into patient needs and perspectives on recovery during and after hypothetical hospitalization.

    You are eligible to participate if you are:
    - In the United States
    - At least 18 years old

    The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous. Participation is completely voluntary, and you may stop the survey at any time.

  • Free Mental Health First Aid Training available for faculty and staff today

    Space is available for a free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for faculty and staff on Thursday, Aug. 6. MHFA training teaches individuals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses, including substance use disorders.     Are you ready to create digital documents that are inclusive, professional, and accessible to all?

    Information Technology Services, in partnership with the University Center for Training and Development, is hosting online training sessions designed to build your document accessibility skills.

    Learn how to use Adobe Acrobat’s accessibility tools to refine your own documents. Whether you are looking for the foundations of document structuring or need to master fillable PDF forms, sessions will be offered multiple times in August and September.

  • NSF funding available for your technology development at the Battery Show

    Are you conducting translational research, or do you have an exciting invention or innovation in the battery or energy storage sector? Researchers, students, and entrepreneurs at Binghamton University and RIT have the opportunity to receive grant funding to progress their research or innovation. The National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps Program gives researchers funding and training to explore the commercial path forward for their research, inventions, and products.

    The four-week Hybrid Regional I-Corps Course comprises virtual sessions, mentoring, and the opportunity to interact with key customers and industry stakeholders, while opening up access to $5,000 in funding to attend the Battery Show (Oct. 11–14, Detroit, Michigan).

    Successful teams have the opportunity to progress to the national-level NSF I-Corps Teams Program, providing $50,000 in grant funding.

  • Leadership Development Program nominations

    Nominations for the fall 2026 Binghamton University Leadership Development Program are now being accepted.

    The program sessions will be in-person and are scheduled for Sept. 16, Sept. 30, and Oct. 14, 2026. The program consists of interactive sessions, online modules, and mentoring with a focus on individual leadership, team leadership, and organizational leadership. Participants can be nominated by their supervisor or self-nominate. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, hone your existing ones, and network with other colleagues/leaders across the campus.
