My name is Annie Smith and I’m the International Student and Scholar Services Programming Coordinator. As a new student, getting involved in campus clubs, sports and events is a key part of making the most of your time at Binghamton.
Here are some tips on how to get connected to the Binghamton University Community:
-
- Choose from the list of event happenings on B-Welcome, B-Engaged or B-Line announcements.
- Become involved in one of the international student organizations.
- Hear what students are talking about on our Binghamton University Blog.
- Go for a hike in Binghamton’s on-campus Nature Preserve –735,000 sq. meters of land and 81,000 sq. meters of wetlands.
- Head down to the East Gym and learn about Campus Recreation's group classes, swimming pool and open recreation schedule.
- Volunteer on campus or in the greater Binghamton area. The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) works with the local community to provide opportunities to volunteer and make a difference.
- Grab a friend and explore the area! Use your student ID to ride the OCCT Blue Buses or city buses for free. Participate in the First Friday Art Walk, ice skate at the SUNY Broome Ice Center, go to a Binghamton Black Bears hockey game, visit the Broome County Regional Farmers Market or check some of the area's great local restaurants!
Ways to get involved with ISSS:
-
- Join the Global Networking Group and meet other students who are interested in connecting with diverse peers. All Binghamton University students are welcome to fill out the GNG Interest Form to join this program.
- Come to the International Coffee Hour, held once a month. The first coffee hour of the spring 2026 semester will be Wednesday, February 4 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Old Champlain Atrium (Old Champlain, Room 133).
