Policies with respect to accommodations for childbirth, care of a newborn child, and adoption are complex. Faculty are encouraged to inform their dean of a pregnancy or adoption as soon as possible so that planning can begin. Deans may provide options including stopping the tenure clock and adjusting faculty members' contribution to mission in a manner that meets the needs of students, the school and the faculty member.
