Binghamton Advantage Program

During the just-completed academic year, Binghamton University and Broome Community College (BCC) entered into a unique partnership that we call the Binghamton Advantage Program, whereby 40 students enrolled at BCC received the promise of admission to Binghamton if they met certain academic requirements after one or two years at BCC. The unique aspect of the program is that these 40 BCC students enjoyed the opportunity to live in Binghamton University housing while the majority of their classes were taken at BCC.

This pilot program was highly successful: more than 30 of the participants will likely transfer from BCC to Binghamton after the first year. This innovative, invitation-only, dual-admission program will continue with the acceptance of an additional class of 45 students this fall. The program participants are advised and supported from the University’s new Transfer Student Services Office which, like the Binghamton Advantage Program, is a joint initiative between the divisions of academic and student affairs.
