ITS improves organizational structure

Over the past quarter, Information Technology Services (ITS) continued to improve its organizational structure to better serve the campus community and emerge as a leader in innovative technologies. Key positions were recently filled in the area of University Enterprise Software that will help the organization effectively manage critical applications on campus and execute innovative projects.

Jeffrey Ramsay was promoted to associate director of Enterprise Software Infrastructure and Technical Planning. In this new role, he will manage and maintain critical systems for campus users, including our Oracle databases, and also provide support for vendor products used by various departments. Ramsay’s previous experience working with a variety of campus systems and databases will also be helpful in making recommendations to purchase or create new servers to meet changing campus needs.

Working directly with the University’s recently created Technical Advisory Board (TAB), Tim Cortesi has been promoted to associate director of application development with a focus on innovative solutions. In this new role, he will lead the new Innovations Teams, which are a partnership between ITS and various academic programs, to engage the expertise of faculty and students in the application development process. The Innovations Teams are led by ITS professionals and work hand-in-hand with students and a faculty advisor to develop solutions to campus technology problems. Current teams include faculty and graduate students from the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science Department of Computer Science and it is expected that the program will expand to other schools in the future.
