Plans are underway to establish a Korean student center on campus, thanks to a $500,000 gift from Charles M. Kim ’98 and his wife, Jean Su Maeng-Kim. Construction of the Young Sam Kim Korean Student Center, in a portion of Old Champlain Hall, is expected to occur in 2016.

The center is scheduled to open in early 2017 and provide office and programming space to support Korean and Korean-American cultural and religious student group activities and programming.

Kim and his family members have also provided Korean student organization support, in addition to numerous other charitable gifts to enhance the University.

Kim is managing partner of Alpine Group USVI in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and a member of the Binghamton University Foundation Board of Directors.
