Foundation welcomes new board members

The Binghamton University Foundation, the University’s partner to premier, welcomed Stuart F. Koenig ’73 and Glenn R. Small to its board of directors in January.

•  Koenig is a seasoned executive with significant experience in real estate private equity, investment banking and finance. He is currently a senior partner and chief operating officer of the real estate division of Ares Management LP and serves as chairman of all of its real estate investment committees, including Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp. (ACRE), a public mortgage real estate investment trust.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Binghamton in 1973. In 1979, he received a Master of Business Administration in accounting from Baruch College.

•  Small is a senior vice president of M&T Bank and the former regional president of M&T’s Southern New York region based in Binghamton. Small has worked in the local banking industry since the early 1970s and joined M&T in 2000.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bucknell University. After serving as a platoon sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he completed a Master of Business Administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
