Alumni Association recognizes 14 notable graduates

The Alumni Association presented its 2017 Special Recognition Awards March 30 at the historic Edison Ballroom in Manhattan; this was the first alumni awards ceremony held in New York City. Taking place in the heart of the city’s Theater District, this event showcased the talents of Binghamton University alumni who perform on Broadway. Neil Berg ‘86, noted lyricist and composer, was the musical host and performed with his wife, Rita Harvey; Joanne Borts ‘82; Pat McGuinness ‘85; and 25 other alumni.

The signature award recipients were:
• Gary Kunis ’73, LHD ’02 - Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumni Award
• Marjorie S. Cohn ’78 - Alumni Achievement Award
• Barry Chaffkin ’86 - Edward Weisband Distinguished Alumni Award for Public Service or Contribution to Public Affairs
• Laura J. Vollmer ’10 - Lois B. DeFleur Distinguished Young Alumni Award
