University engages alumni in week of student career development programming

Binghamton in the City events, which resulted from a campus-wide collaboration, took place Jan. 10-13, in New York City. The week of programming, held during the University’s winter recess, exposes students to a wide variety of career options, employers and successful alumni. About 500 students, alumni and friends attended a Binghamton-only night of skating at Bryant Park ice rink. More than 130 alumni volunteered to speak with students at Metro Connections Night, which enables students to explore different careers within a single evening and expand their professional networks. Employer site visits, many of which were hosted by alumni, gave students a foot in the door at some of the city’s most exciting brands such as Madison Square Garden, EY and the New York Public Library. More than 600 students participated in the week’s activities, which was about 20 percent more than in 2016.
