Visions Financial Wellness Center is unveiled

The University unveiled its new Visions Financial Wellness Center on campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 19. The financial wellness center, located in the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development, features an interactive display with web modules about topics such as budgeting, credit cards, saving, insurance, students loans and investments. Campus workshops led by Colleen Barton ’07, community education coordinator at Visions, also will be offered.

“We are one of the only — if not the only — career center in the country leading a financial wellness center,” said Kelli Smith, director of the Fleishman Center. “The missions of career centers are changing and expanding. We have expanded the wealth of programs we offer so (students) can be successful when they leave Binghamton University. If they can’t manage their finances, it’s going to be difficult to secure a job or negotiate a salary and benefits.”
