Homecoming celebrates and creates traditions

Nearly 1,200 alumni returned to campus Oct. 6-8, for Homecoming. Hinman College celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of events culminating in a banquet and fireworks show; this was the largest of the Homecoming 2017 reunions. Signature events during the weekend included a TIER Talks® speaker event presented by M&T Bank, tailgate party, men’s soccer game, 5K run and walk, and Bing Brews and Bands. The corridor entering the Alumni Center in Old O’Connor Hall was dedicated as the Charlene Kahlor Kramer Traditions Hallway in a tribute to the generosity she and her husband Roger Kramer ’72 have shown toward the University for more than four decades. The Alumni Association introduced a new tradition at Homecoming 2017: a pinning ceremony for alumni who have sons or daughters currently attending Binghamton University. The Homecoming 2017 digital and social campaign garnered a total of 661,218 views online through a variety of blog posts, photos, videos and ads.
