Athletics Alumni Giving Challenge

Binghamton University’s 21 varsity teams took part in the Second Annual Athletics Alumni Giving Challenge, competing against each other to raise funds for their sports and the Athletics Department. Campaign results were announced at Homecoming. William H. Groner ‘77 sponsored the challenge, with a goal to increase participation among former Binghamton student-athletes who contribute to the Athletics Department. For the second consecutive year, the men’s lacrosse team won the first-place prize of $5,000 toward its program. The second-place award of $2,000 went to women’s lacrosse. That program also earned $1,000 for the greatest improvement from last year. There were 540 gifts received as part of the challenge. Included in that figure were 88 new donors and 220 alumni who graduated in the last decade.
