New SAASI director

The campus welcomed Kim Yousey-Elsener as the new director of Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives (SAASI) in February. She came to Binghamton from her position as dean of assessment and retention at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y.

Yousey-Elsener has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio, a Master of Education in College Student Personnel from Kent State University and a PhD in higher education administration from New York University (NYU).

She has also served as director of assessment and evaluation for University Life and Services at the University at Buffalo, associate director of assessment programs at Campus Labs, dean of community engagement at West Virginia Wesleyan College and director of research and assessment for the Division of Student Affairs at NYU.

Yousey-Elsener hit the ground running and organized an “assessment boot camp” held in June with three full days of hands-on work dealing with goal-setting, survey techniques, data analysis, visual presentations and more.
