Kristhaswami “Hari” Srihari to step down from Watson School dean position

After nearly a decade as dean, Krishnaswami “Hari” Srihari of the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University will be stepping down from that position in August 2019. He will retain his appointment as a SUNY distinguished professor in the Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering – where he began his academic career as an assistant professor in 1988.

“I would like to thank my colleagues in the Watson School and across campus for their dedication, diligence and passion that have helped our Watson School move forward,” said Srihari. “I have been honored and humbled to serve alongside a superb team of professionals.”

Srihari has played an integral role in the success of the Watson School and Binghamton University since he became dean in June 2009. He has also served as Binghamton University’s executive vice provost for international initiatives and chief global affairs officer since 2015, a position he will continue to hold.

“During his time as dean, Hari has overseen tremendous growth and success in the Watson School. He has made his mark on not only the Watson School but the University as well,” said President Harvey Stenger.
