30th annual CHOW Hunger Walk

The 30th Annual CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) Hunger Walk was held on campus Sunday, Oct. 21.  The event was organized by the Broome County of Council of Churches with several co-sponsors. Binghamton University’s Center for Civic Engagement recruited and supervised 121 students who volunteered at the event to help with registration, set-up and clean-up, children’s activities, direction and other tasks. Over 250 students and about 400 community members participated in the walk to help raise money and contribute food items to local food pantries. Over 1,200 pounds of food and about $35,000 were collected to support the mission of the Broome County Council of Churches in supplying food for needy individuals. CHOW supplies over 130,000 lbs. of food to 30 local food pantries each month.
